Express Entry linked Stream
For applying through the Express Entry linked stream, the candidate can contact the province and apply for a nomination through the Express Entry stream. Through your account you will be nominated and shortlisted for selection.
Another way to apply in this stream is to mention the province you are interested in when you are creating your Express Entry program profile and wait for “Notification of Interest” by the province which they will offer through your account if you are selected.
Non –Express Entry linked streams
This is another way of applying in which the candidate can apply to the province directly and not go through the Express Entry channel. The first step would be to visit the website for Canada Provincial Nominee Program(PNP) state your choice of stream. The application will be reviewed by the province and if you meet the eligibility criteria you will be issued a nomination certificate. After you receive your nomination you need to file for the permanent Residency application.

After the introduction of Express Entry system in 2015, many provinces have also introduced the Expression of Interest (EOI) system for their selection, which is very similar to the Express Entry Program.
